Okay, before I start… I don’t want anyone sending me hate messages saying I’m ‘heartless’ because this is just my opinion, if you can’t handle it, don’t read:
When I first saw people were saying that Miley cuts herself, I was really surprised. For several reasons really:
- Miley is 19 years old, she’s a grown woman. You don’t develop problems like cutting at an age like that, especially in today’s society.
- You can’t say she could have been doing it before because I have never ever seen a hint of a cut on that wrist before the photos that came out recently.
- Miley is best friends with Demi, she of all people should know how horrible it effects people.
- For the past 6 years, all she’s wanted to do is prove that she’s ‘not a little girl’ or she’s ‘very mature’ - I don’t think a mature, grown woman would resort to self-harm.
My opinions, I think that she either just tried it, I know lots of people wonder what it feels like. It’s still irresponsible, stupid and dangerous. Or, I think that she knows people are losing interest in her, therefore she has to resort to purposely showing off her cuts for attention. OR, it could be that she doesn’t cut herself and it’s all a big misunderstanding - (hoping it’s the last one).

I do have lots of sympathy for people who struggle with issues, such as self-harm - for example, Demi Lovato. I respect her so much and I think that she is so strong and I don’t think that she did it for attention because she’s been cutting since she was 11, ages ago before she got famous. I’m not writing this to hate on Miley, but there are people who seriously suffer from these problems and if she’s doing it for attention, she not respecting the fact that people like her BEST FRIEND, went through horrible stuff with it. It’s so random? Yes, people call her fat and so on but that’s NEVER stopped her before. If this started when she was 15 or 16, it would be less crazy but she’s a woman now, and she’s been raving about how she doesn’t give a shit how people judge her for however many years now and it just seems so unnatural to start now. Everybody saw how much attention Demi got for coming out with her problems, it makes sense to me that someone who was in need for attention would copy it.
I’m not saying Miley is a fame whore or whatever, I really hope she isn’t cutting herself because all my respect for her would go straight out the window. Not because I think cutting is bad or I think it’s ‘creepy’ - because she should know better. I hope she’s not the hypocrite she’s appearing to be.
